I love working with canvas....It is easy on the wallet and you can make so many different things with it.  This party banner we designed for Plaid for Earth Day but it can be customized to any event.  We made a picnic cloth from a drop cloth, a stenciled charger, a stitched napkin, handmade floor pillows and of course the party banner.

MATERIALS:
1/2 Yard cotton duck fabric Plaid Craft Stencils - Value Packs - Foliage/Leaf FolkArt Shiny Acrylic Paint - Sugar Plum  Stencil paintbrushLow tack painters paperMedium flat paintbrush FolkArt Acrylic Colors - Jamaican Sea  Apple Barrel Paint - Melted Chocolate FolkArt Acrylic Colors - Pumpkin FolkArt Shiny Acrylic Paint - Calypso Sky FolkArt Acrylic Colors - Patina RhinestonesGem glueButtonsHand sewing needle and threadSewing machine2 yards Pompom trim

Cut the fabric into three pennant flag triangle shapes.
Stencil a bird in a random spot. Position the bird stencil in your desired spot. Tape the stencil in position, load the stencil paintbrush with sugar plum paint, tap off the excess paint. Working directly above the stencil, tap the brush over the bird design. Lift the stencil to reveal the design. Wash stencil and reuse.
Using low tack tape, tape off the edge of each triangle.
Paint the edges with Jamaican sea paint.
 Lookie....nice clean edge.
Using tape, tape off a stripe design on each triangle. Make some thick and some thin. Be sure to cover a space where the bird stencil is. Using a medium paintbrush, paint the stripe design with the pumpkin, calypso sky, melted chocolate, and sugar plum paint. Allow to dry.

 Once dry, remove the tape.
Hand sew buttons to the design.
Use gem glue to attach rhinestones.

Sew the tops of the pennant flags to the center of the pompom trim.  All stitched ready to hang!
